There’s never been a better time to get into maximalism. With the rise of the tidying up phenomenon, it’s popular to think that choosing a more neutral room design is somehow trouble-free. But would that really create the environment you seek for your home? It’s easy to achieve the maximalism look by layering textures, patterns and colors you love. Plus, in maximalism, there are no mistakes.
All of my pop culture favorites are serial maximalists: in life, in love and most importantly, design. The unifying factor? Creativity. Oftentimes, self-proclaimed maximalists collect and retain things that hold special meaning. When applying that same method to interior design, you’re left with a truly one-of-a-kind design—unique only to you. Maximalism is all about embracing indulgence. And who am I to say no to that? It doesn’t necessarily mean that you live in excess or a chaotic lifestyle. In fact, my favorite homes are those that don’t necessarily “match” their owners personality. It’s that fun element of surprise for visitors to your space.

Pillows add a touch of comfort and can be grounding in an unconventional design. Rifle Paper Co. launched a rugs and pillows collection late last year and I couldn’t be happier about it.
