Color and pattern have the power to evoke emotions within a space. Bold, bright patterns can create an energetic atmosphere, while muted, subtle patterns or textured elements can make a room feel serene and airy. Today, I’d love to share three reasons to consider bringing these elements into your home.
Reason #1: Color Reflects Your Energy and Evokes Emotion
The science behind color psychology is fascinating. While I won’t go into all the details, it’s essential to consider how you want to feel when you walk into your home. For example, after a long day working with clients, you may want to retreat to a dark, moody room to enjoy a quiet cocktail. Or, if you rarely get to leave the fluorescent lights of your office, you may like coming home to a place that is uplifting in color and open to the elements to allow the breezes to refresh you after a long day. Reason #2: Patterns Showcase Your Personality and Add Interest
I compare patterns in a room to viewing a piece of art in a museum—you want the eye to move around the space just as it would when appreciating art. While a single focal point can be effective, creating a harmonious room involves incorporating a few key patterns throughout to maintain visual interest.
Reason #3: Coordinating Colors and Patterns Creates Harmony
When you combine the right colors and patterns, you create a welcoming and much more interesting space. On one of my recent projects, we created a yoga room in soft beige colors, accented with walnut built-ins and brushed brass fixtures. When the light streamed into the space, it was completely serene.
Color is an integral part of my projects. I understand how you would like to feel in your home, and bring in materials, textures, and colors to support that overall vibe. If you’re not sure where to start, please reach out and schedule a call to discuss your options.
