One of the most common questions we get is, “How long will my project take?” The honest answer is: it depends. Every project is unique, and the timeline is directly influenced by the scope of work involved. That’s why we take time at the very beginning to clearly define the project scope and consult with all necessary trades early in the process.
Establishing realistic expectations up front is key to a smooth and successful experience.
Phase 1: Initial Consultation and Concept Design
One of the most important steps is defining the scope of work. We do this in our initial consultation meeting. This is one of the most important steps in the entire process. During our initial consultation, we work closely with you to understand your goals, needs, and overall vision. From there, we begin developing the project schedule. If architectural plans are needed, we’ll prepare concepts to present to your architect or builder to align everyone early on.
For furnishings-focused projects, we establish a general timeline based on lead times for items like custom furniture, drapery, and rugs. Once we have those estimates, we plan installation accordingly to create a seamless, coordinated reveal.
How Long It Can Take: This planning phase usually takes 1-3 months depending on the project scope.
Phase 2: Sourcing and Procurement
Procurement is a major part of our full-service design process. From tile and lighting to furniture and fixtures, we manage it all. Taking ownership of this phase allows us to work within our established schedule and proactively order items at the right time to keep the project moving.
We don’t just place orders—we track every item, inspect deliveries for quality, and coordinate timing so materials arrive precisely when your contractor and subcontractors need them.
How Long It Can Take: Procurement can take 2-6 months and is on-going for a large remodel project.
Phase 3: Construction and Execution
Construction is where everything begins to take shape. Throughout this phase, we make strategic site visits to ensure the design is executed as intended. These visits include MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) walk-throughs, pre-tile installations to confirm layouts, cabinetry checks, and oversight of decorative fixture installations.
How Long It Can Take: Construction can be 2-9 months, again depending on scope.
Phase 4: The Big Reveal
Once construction is complete and architectural finishes are installed, we coordinate the final layer—the furnishings. From rugs and window treatments to art and accessories, we install everything so you walk into a fully finished, livable home. Yes—kind of like the shows!
How Long It Can Take: Installation usually takes 1-3 days.
